A Warnindhilyagwa woman from Groote Eylandt, Emily Wurramara writes and performs music that feeds into a recent wave of contemporary Australian blues and roots, seamlessly bringing the language of her people to new communities in a way that empowers and celebrates her culture. Emily has also been involved in advocacy, dedicating herself to championing important causes that need more awareness including mental health, youth suicide prevention and environmental issues. Her songwriting has earned her an ARIA nomination, an AIR Award win, and six Queensland Music Awards, and she has toured with artists such as Midnight Oil and Jack Johnson.
