“Everyone here has a story of heartbreak and hope. Everyone’s stories are different but by sharing those stories we have solidarity in that commonality.”
Tracey Spicer at Winter Solstice 2017
On the longest night of the year, Survivors of Suicide and Friends hosts the Winter Solstice event. Though this event was borne of a need to support those grieving a loved one who died by suicide, the Winter Solstice is for everyone – not just for those who are personally affected by suicide and mental ill health. With exceptional speakers and heartwarming performances, it’s a night to remember and reflect, and to cherish those we love in our lives.
Held annually on the 21st of June, the Winter Solstice is a free event for all. Hosted in Albury up until 2025, in recent years the Winter Solstice has streamed as an online event accessible to audiences all around Australia and the world. In 2020, our live stream was able to be shared across borders and timezones, reaching over 20,000 viewers on the night. Survivors of Suicide and Friends will host our Solstice event online-only in 2026.
