Jess Hitchcock is a Melbourne based award winning songwriter, opera singer and Indigenous artist. With family origins from Saibai in the Torres Straits and Papua New Guinea, Jess has worked as a teacher, composer and artist with Australia’s only Indigenous opera company, Short Black Opera. In 2016 she was awarded Broadway World’s ‘best supporting actress in an opera’ for the role of Alice in Short Black Opera’s Pecan Summer. In 2019 she performed at Eurovision, and toured with Paul Kelly and Kate Miller-Hiedke on the ‘Making Gravy Tour’. Her debut LP of original music is called Bloodline.
