Jo Robinson

Jo has dedicated her working life to improving our knowledge about the best approaches to reduce suicide risk among young people. As Associate Professor at Orygen, she leads the suicide prevention research unit, which is globally regarded as the leading centre of youth suicide research. Jo’s work also explores the potential of social media platforms in suicide prevention. She helped to create #chatsafe guidelines, the first evidence-based best practice guidelines for safe peer-peer communication about suicide online. 

In Victoria, Jo spearheaded the establishment of a self-harm monitoring system in emergency departments across the state. She has also advised on mental health policy development with both state and federal governments, and is Vice President of the International Association of Suicide Prevention.
